WFS Meeting Guidelines
This is just a basic overview of a WFS Meeting and Group Guidelines to assist you in leading WFS meetings. If you have any questions or problems arise that you are unsure of how to handle once your group starts, please consult with the WFS Headquarters and also your Guidelines Booklet and Moderator's Manual that is included in your Starter Kit. The following meeting format, however, must be adhered to in order to keep all WFS groups, throughout the world, uniform.
Order of the WFS Meeting
Start the meeting on time. When possible, have the women sit in a circle. (Either before or during the meeting make it possible for a donation to be collected, which is sent to WFS Headquarters on a weekly basis by the moderator. The money is used to cover the cost of distributed literature at the meetings and helping other women alcoholics. Making a donation toward the Program is an important part of recovery.)
Read the Thirteen Statements of the WFS Program. (Some Moderators also read the Statement of Purpose and the Reflections for Growth for that day.)
Ask each woman to introduce herself and give herself a 'stroke' for something positive she did during the past week. "My name is Jean and I am a competent woman. This week I ..."
The Moderator then introduces the discussion topic of the meeting. Always use the WFS Statements with the topic of choice.
The meeting should last between an hour and an hour and a half. (End the meeting at the scheduled time.) Close the meetings by standing in a circle (if possible) with joined hands and together recite the WFS motto: "We are capable and competent, caring and compassionate, always willing to help another, bonded together in overcoming our addictions."
