Why is a program specifically for women necessary?

Women's addiction is rooted in a fundamentally different psychological profile than men's, according to founder Jean Kirkpatrick. Women have specific needs in recovery, and lasting sobriety for women requires programs that directly address those needs.

Can anyone join a meeting?

You must identify as female, be at least 18 years old, not under the influence of any substance, and trying to achieve sobriety.

Is there a cost for joining a group or going to a meeting?

No.

How many meetings do you have a week?

There are a number of online zoom and in-person meetings every day that you can review here, along with details about how the meetings work and more information about this vibrant community. Meetings are led by trained peer facilitators.

What is the online community all about?

WFS is unique in offering a password-protected community that includes online groups where women in recovery share their journey with one another. Groups are formed around life stage (Newbies, New Life Moms, Sober Around Sixty) or interest (Book Club). You must create a login/password to join. Access is free.
